Prof. Li Lin, academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering and director of laser Engineering Research and Development Center of University of Manchester, UK, visited the Institute. Prof. Ye Yunxia, executive Vice President of the Institute and other relevant personnel attended the panel discussion on November 19.
Dean Ye introduced the construction and scientific research of the Institute. Prof. Li spoke highly of the achievements of the Institute in various aspects and provided valuable guidance on the future key development directions of the Institute.
Professor Li Lin, an expert on laser materials processing and micro-nano optics, a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering UK, director of the Laser Processing Research Center, University of Manchester, Deputy Minister of Engineering and Physics Department of the University of Manchester, Chairman of the Laser Institute of America (LIA, 2016), the British industrial laser Association Vice Chairman (AILU, 2015-2016), Chairman of International Society of Photonics and Laser Engineering (2013-2015).
Prof. Li mainly does research on laser material processing, which related laser drilling, laser welding, laser cutting, laser surface treatment, laser additive manufacturing, laser cleaning and laser micro-nano manufacturing, nano-imaging, applications involving manufacturing, medical , Biology, new energy and other fields. Prof. Li, the founder of the University of Manchester laser machining center, has published more than 340 SCI papers and got information about advanced laser manufacturing 47 patents. In 2011, the invention of super-resolution virtual image of white beads nanoscopy achieved 50 nm resolution white light, breaking the theoretical diffraction microscope resolution limit (200 nm), the work was published in "Nature Communications" journal. In 2013, the super-resolution virtual image of white beads nano-microscopy techniques to directly observe non-fluorescent labeled biological viruses, biological virus to achieve interference-free real-time observation, published in the Journal Nature child: the "Light Science & Applications". In 2014, 25 nanometers to achieve a non-fluorescent direct optical superresolution imaging, published in the "ACS Nano". Prof. Li in 2013 was awarded the Sir Frank Witt Medal issued by the Royal Academy of Engineering (one of the highest achievement awards in British engineering) for her outstanding achievements in the field of innovative manufacturing technology and the economic and social value it produced, July 25, was elected as an academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 2014, Prof. Li received the Wolfson Outstanding Scientific Research Award of the Royal Society of Britain and the best scientific achievement medal 2014 University of Manchester.
