From July 8 to 10, 2019, the 40th International MATADOR Conference on Advanced Manufacturing was held in Hangzhou. The conference was undertaken by the University of Manchester, Zhejiang University of Technology and co-organized by Beijing University of Technology. There were 5 topics in the conference: advanced laser manufacturing technology, laser processing and additive manufacturing, manufacturing process and technology, design and control, welding and connection. The conference showcased the outstanding achievements in the relevant fields and the latest progress of basic researches in the past two years at home and abroad. About 300 experts and scholars from different countries and regions participated in this academic event.
During the meeting, the Science Foundation Salon was held. The conference invited Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Zhejiang University Professor Tan Jianrong, Academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Deputy Director of the Engineering Department of the National Physics Laboratory Professor Paul Shore, Academician of the American Academy of Engineering and University of Michigan Professor Jyoti Mazumdar, Academician of the England Academy of Engineering and Director of the Laser Processing Center at the University of Manchester Professor Li Lin, director of the Biomanufacturing Center of the University of Manchester, and a member of the International Production Engineering Association (CIRP) Professor Paul Bartolo gave a keynote speech.
Professor Ye Yunxia gave a report on the sub-session titled "Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) of Laser Precision Processing Technology". Professor Ye has known the latest research developments in advanced manufacturing at home and abroad and broadened the academic horizon through participating in this high-level international academic conference. It’s contributed to further consolidate the research direction of the institute, integrate the research team and promote the institute development.
